Homework Policy
Students are responsible for completing daily homework (Monday through Thursday). These assignments will be written in the Student Planner each day. I expect all assignments to be turned in on time. Please encourage your child to be responsible when it comes to homework. At times, there will be long term projects that may require the student to work on them over the weekend.
Additionally, I ask that students read at least 20 minutes each night. This is a great opportunity for them to read books that count toward their Accelerated Reading goals.
Homework Responsibilities
I believe that homework assignments should serve one or more of the following purposes:
1. To reinforce and enrich learning experiences
2. To teach students to follow directions and to organize time and materials
3. To help students to accept responsibility and to develop self-reliance for assigned work
4. To enable parents to stay informed about their child's progress and about the school's instructional program
Student Responsibilities
1. Writing down homework assignments in their Student Planner
2. Making sure that they understand the assignment before leaving school
3. Turning in assignments when they are due
4. Making sure their parents see the assignments in the Student Planner
5. Checking to make sure their homework assignments are in their backpacks before coming to school
6. Explaining to parents what homework has been assigned and when it is due
7. Making up assignments that are missed when absent
